Wow, this game is so much better than when I played it a month ago! The level design is great, except there are a few times when you can fall all the way to the bottom of a room, which is annoying. I managed to defeat the boss, 'Runner' (at least I think that was the boss), and I think it needs a bit more attacks, because just charging at you gets a bit boring.
I notice that you can use the joystick on a controller during the game, but you can't in the menus. Being able to press 'B' to resume the game rather than navigating to the resume button in the pause menu would also be nice.
I also think the charge beam should do more damage, because it doesn't seem a lot stronger than the starting weapon, which it definitely should.
Other than that, great game! Excited for full release!
- you can press esc / start again to close the menu
- the charge beam is 3 times stronger than a normal shot and takes one second to charge up . you can shoot 3 times / second ( but this is not important because the combat system will be rebalanced in the next update anyways)
- the Runner is a mini boss / normal enemy later on and I will probably replace it with a real boss at some point ( But I can give it more attacks despite that)
Using control sticks for the menus is a quick fix . I will add it absolutely
"- the charge beam is 3 times stronger than a normal shot and takes one second to charge up . you can shoot 3 times / second ( but this is not important because the combat system will be rebalanced in the next update anyways)"
It should still be a stronger attack, (maybe like 60 damage) but maybe with a drawback (like not being able to move while charging it)
"- you can press esc / start again to close the menu"
a map system will be integrated after all the areas are finished but it won't be very detailed. just a planet map that tells you in what zone you are. The way the player can find the way then will be very memorable locations with unique art
the control sticks thing is a problem i couldn't find a solution for but i will keep looking for it

thank you for the feedback

I didn't realize lol
Very cool so far! I had some fun exploring, and found the green area, the purple area and the snowy area.
A map system should be high priority (unless there is one and I missed it)
I also notice that you can't map buttons to the joysticks on a controller.
Overall, great game so far, even though it's still got a while to go.

sorry for not replying sooner,
